Mykle Ann Uglem beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, was born on September 23, 1952, in Clarkston, Washington, to Walter C. McCall and Jean McCall (both deceased). She passed away surrounded by family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
She began her education at Webster Elementary School before moving to Warner Elementary (now McGhee Elementary School), then attended Sacajawea Junior High and Lewiston High School, graduating in May 1970. During high school, she was actively involved in DECA, Loyalty Squad, and the LHS Choir. She also worked afternoons and weekends at JoAnne’s Candies.
After graduation, she moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to house-sit for her aunt and uncle. Her love for children blossomed early, and she developed a lifelong passion for daycare and preschool education.
In 1971, she returned to Lewiston and began working at the Red Shield restaurant in Clarkston, Washington. It was there she met her future husband, Rodney Uglem. They were engaged in January 1972 and married on April 8th of the same year. Over the next seven years, they welcomed three children: James, Jennifer, and Jeffrey.
She went on to open her own in-home daycare and preschool, dedicating 49 years to nurturing and educating young children. Her career was a testament to her boundless patience, creativity, and love for helping children grow.
Upon her retirement in 2021, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in August 2024 and received world class healthcare at The City of Hope Cancer Center in Goodyear, Arizona.
