Bernard (Ben) F. Myscofski passed away on October 27th, 2021 at the age of 80 years old. He was the second of three children born to Peter and Stella Myscofski. He, his older brother Robert (deceased), and younger sister Dorothy (Dee) were born in Chicago Illinois. He is survived by his sister Dee, wife Judy Myscofski (nee Bailey), two sons Thomas and Joseph (Erica), grandsons Roman and Brock, and granddaughter Gabriella.
Ben grew up in Chicago and joined the U.S Air Force at the age of 18. He trained as a jet mechanic and later as a firearms instructor. He met his wife Judy in Selma, Alabama and served in the Republic of the Philippines at Clark AFB during Vietnam. During his tour there, he developed a clown act performing at various children’s events. One performance was in Manila at the Presidential Palace for the Philippine President and First Lady’s son.
While at Luke AFB and in his capacity as a small arms instructor, he assisted in training the Maricopa County Sherriff’s SWAT team in the 1970s. He also worked on the Luke AFB and Phoenix Jaycees fireworks displays. He was a hunter’s safety instructor for the NRA. He served over 18 years in the Air Force.
After military service, Ben stayed in Buckeye, Arizona and was involved locally in the Buckeye Museum, the Buckeye Valley News, the Phoenix Jaycees, Helzapoppin’ PRCA Rodeo, and the Arizona Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
It would be impossible to list all of Ben’s activities and interests, but he loved local Phoenix history, military history and the rodeo. Ben was an avid reader and loved a good joke.
