Raymond G. Duran, 73, of Buckeye went to be with the Lord on May 11, 2013. Ray was born on September 6, 1939, St. Johns, Az, to Fred and Trinadad Duran. Ray started his adult career working with CH Baker Shoe Company. He started as a shoe sales associate and worked his way up to Vice President in charge of operations. Ray began his true calling in life when he decided to start a business to satisfy the entrepreneur desire that ran through his blood. In 1976 he opened Duran’s Department Store in Buckeye, Az. Ray’s next business venture was with his wife. They owned and operated Classy Nails and Hair for 15 years in Avondale, Az. In the same shopping center they also owned a tanning salon and vacuum sales/repair shop. Ray always had a plan for a new business venture and this time he took it to the highest level. He will be truly and deeply missed by so many. He is survived by his wife Phyllis Duran; two sons Ray Jr. Duran and Cody Duran; two daughters Theresa Duran and Nicole Ortega; two brothers Ernest Duran and Fred Duran; four sisters Tillie Pickering, Lupe Villasenor , Alice Giehm and Alma Vizzerra; eight grand children and many loving nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 5pm to 6pm, 6:30pm Rosary on Thursday, May 16th at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Rd in Goodyear. Mass will be held at 10am on Friday, May 17th at St. John Vianney Parish, 539 La Pasada Blvd in Goodyear. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Avondale.
