Holly Reynolds, an irreplaceable presence in her family and community, passed away unexpectedly at home on January 29, 2022, at age 58. Holly was born in Albuquerque, NM to Algy Ray and Theresa Smith. She grew up in the Phoenix area and graduated from Maryvale High School in 1981 where she was an avid athlete. She is remembered as a team player in all aspects of her life, who despite her many accomplishments, lead not from the front, but directly beside all those who had the honor of being touched by her. She attended the University of New Mexico where she earned a B.A. in Psychology and met the love of her life, Chuck Reynolds. Following college, she moved back to Arizona to begin her career serving the youth of Arizona in the juvenile justice system, empowering and transforming the lives of the most vulnerable. Holly spent more than twenty years in both in the Juvenile Services Division and the Arizona Administrative Office of the Courts, creating lasting and impactful positive change for juveniles and their families. Holly was the leader of and facilitator for multiple statewide initiatives. She developed and implemented programs that lead to a dramatic reduction in juvenile recidivism, created training for Court personnel to ensure the equitable treatment of LGBTQ+ youth, participated as a member of the Governor’s Youth, Faith & Family Task Force on minor victims of sex trafficking, trained probation officers to identify potential sex trafficking victims, and spread the word every day through the nationally utilized Kids at Hope Program that all children are capable of success, no exceptions. Holly’s legacy is one of a lifelong dedication to the underserved, the vulnerable, and the forgotten. Holly’s family remembers her as a warm and caring presence, always willing to take charge, and selflessly ensuring that everyone else’s needs were met before her own. Holly is carried in the hearts of many family members and friends to include her husband, Chuck Reynolds; son, Taylor Reynolds (Brenna); mother, Theresa Capps Smith; sister Bicki Starr (Jay); nephew/second son, Andrew Blasdell; and niece Becky Looney (Chris). Her spirit will be carried on in her first grandchild, expected September 2022. The family is planning a memorial service for this spring and requests that friends and family contact [email protected] for more information and in lieu of flowers send donations to Kids at Hope at https://kidsathope.org/donate-now.
