Robert “Bob” Ritz, Jr., age 75 of Goodyear, AZ died March 3, 2020, in Goodyear, AZ. He was born June 7, 1944, in Riverside, CA, the youngest of two sons born to Robert Sprague Ritz and Dorotha Margaret Love. He grew up in Banning, CA and attended Chaffey Community College and the College of the Desert. Bob served in the US Air Force achieving the rank of Master Sergeant and retired from the Air National Guard. He worked for CDM and various construction inspection and testing companies working on hospitals, water plants, storm drains, and other structural projects. He lived in Redlands and Upland, CA until his work brought him to Parker, AZ and then Goodyear, AZ.
Adventurous and fun-loving, Bob enjoyed riding the trails on his quad, and soaring through the clouds in his airplane. He was passionate about spending time on the Colorado River. His time spent skimming over the water in his fast boat, waterskiing, and fishing, became even more enjoyable when his daughter shared in those activities. He had a big heart and was very supportive of his friends and family. Though he often spoke his mind, he was a good listener and non-judgmental in his thoughts. His advice was often motivating and encouraging. He was tough as nails and worked hard to battle his illness, “little by little.”
Bob is survived by his partner, Anna Hall; daughter Stephanie Cates and her husband Greg Cates; brother, Stephen Ritz and wife Dawn Ritz; grandchildren, Christine and Emily Cates; nephew, Bryan Ritz; and niece Stacy McCafferty. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Sprague Ritz and Dorotha Margaret Love.
