Stan J. Gaberlavage Jr., a hard-working, thoughtful, and adventurous soul, passed away on July 15, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on September 14, 1948, Stan was a resident of Buckeye, Arizona, where he lived a life full of rich experiences and cherished memories.
In his early years, Stan pursued education with dedication, earning a Bachelor's Degree from Troy State University in Alabama, followed by a Teacher's Certificate. His commitment to learning laid the foundation for a distinguished career.
His professional journey was distinguished by 24 years of service in the United States Marine Corps as an Air Flight Control and Air Data Technician and Aircraft Electrical Systems Technician. Following his military service, he continued his passion for engineering, spending 20 years as an Aeronautics Engineer for Boeing at the Seattle, Washington, and Long Beach, California facilities.
In September 1996, Stan married Dorothy in Irvine, California, marking the beginning of a loving partnership. Together, they shared a life enriched by their adventures and travels around the world, where Stan indulged his passion for collecting dolls.
Stan is survived by his devoted wife, Dorothy Soteriou; his daughter, Tonya (Garrett) Spencer; and his grandchildren, Devin and Aliyah Spencer. He is also remembered by his sister, Marilyn Cooper, and his brother, Thomas (Ellen) Gaberlavage. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Joseph Gaberlavage, Sr. and Mary Helen Gooden.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Stan's life will be held at Thompson Funeral Chapel, located at 926 South Litchfield Road, Goodyear, Arizona, on August 1, 2025, at 10:00 am. Following the service, a Graveside Ceremony will take place at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, Arizona, at 12:30 pm.
Stan's legacy of dedication, thoughtfulness, and adventure will continue to inspire all who knew him.
