William C. “Billy Bob” Daugherty passed away September 26, 2013 at his home in Avondale, Arizona. He was born in Phoenix, Arizona on November 19, 1976. He attended Liberty Elementary School and Buckeye Union High School. Sugar Bear, Rabbit, or Billy Bob, as he was known by friends and family, loved to go to the movies with his mom and his niece, Cheyenne, and many of her friends. He was as excited as a kid in a candy store when his cousin, Missy, took him to the Arizona Aquarium. He had his own aquarium at home and enjoyed adding new fish to it. He was an avid reader and loved country music, especially some of the old classics like George Jones and Johnny Cash. He spent a week in Hawaii with his mom and Aunt Lois and Uncle Dwain, went deep sea fishing and wanted to go back and do it again soon. He traveled a lot hauling horses with his big brother, “Jim Bob” and cousin Michael. He enjoyed visiting his big brother John and cousin John-John in Kentucky and racing horses, and he loved visiting his sister, Cindy, and cousins Jeremy and Jacob in north Idaho. He was a gentle giant with an old soul. He was quick witted and lent a helping hand to anyone who needed help. He wanted to do some good in the world and had plans to donate his bone marrow. He recently assisted his mom’s good friend, Denise Yoder, in planning his mother’s 70th birthday party at Denise’s house, which was a great success. Billy Bob spent a lot of time when he was young with his father, Richard, and he wouldn’t go to sleep at night without daddy telling him “loady” stories. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Etta Daugherty Conahay, maternal grandparents, Jess and Agnes Slaughter, brother, Vaughn Daugherty, and numerous aunts and uncles. He was survived by his parents , Richard and Lenora Daugherty, sisters, Karen Florentin and Cynthia (and Dale) Bartholomew, brothers, James T. Schmitt, John H. Schmitt, Cash A. (and Trish) Daugherty, and numerous aunts and uncles. Billy Bob had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews, Jeremy, Jacob, Elizabeth “Buffy”, John-John, Matthew, Michael and Cheyenne, and cousins, Lori and Missy. Rest in Peace Billy Bob, you were loved by many and will be missed by all. Memorial services will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, October 3rd at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Rd. in Goodyear, Arizona. Condolences can be sent to www.thompsonfuneralchapel.com.
