Richard G. Williams of Litchfield Park, Arizona passed away December 11, 2022 at the age of 81. He was born August 20, 1941 in Renick, West Virginia to John Williams and Reva Williams (nee Allman). He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Edward Williams.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sandra Williams (nee Walkup), son, Timothy Williams, daughter, Kimberla (Robert) Gray, brother, Ronnie (Betty Jo) Williams of Pence Springs, West Virginia and sister-in-law Mary Jane Williams of Richwood, West Virginia, and his grandchildren, Cory, Garrett, and Blaine. He is also survived by many loving friends, and several extended family members.
Richard grew up in Rupert, West Virginia. After graduating from Rupert High School, Richard joined the United States Air Force in 1960. While in the military, he was stationed in Iceland and Hampton Virginia. He met Sandra in High School in 1958 and they were married on October 8, 1960. Richard and his wife raised their family in Florida, and while there he enjoyed coaching Little League and working with kids in the FFA. After leaving the USAF, Richard worked as a Commercial electrical sales representative, finally retiring in 2014 from Phosco Electric Company in Mulberry Florida.
Richard was known as an honest, loyal, and all together kind man. He never said a bad thing about anyone, even if he did not like them very much. He was articulate and a great story teller. He enjoyed fishing, baseball, and reading. He especially enjoyed watching his brother garden. He loved to take his family on fishing trips on his pontoon boat and to watch baseball games with them when they were still in Florida. He wasn’t the best cook, but he was known for a mean grilled ribeye with butter on top. He loved all food, but his favorites were Bob’s ribs, Sandra’s potato salad, chocolate cake, and vanilla Blue-Bell ice-cream. In his free time, Richard enjoyed watching Big Bang Theory, NCIS, and Ridiculousness as well many Netflix favorites (no commercial’s) on TV. He also read a lot of books about history, the Civil War, and anything by John Grisham.
Richard’s proudest accomplishment was his family, wife, kids, and grandkids. He loved to spend as much time as he could with them as well as many close family friends and extending family members. He was laid back and very funny. His passing leaves an empty space in the universe.
A celebration of life is being planned for a later date.
