To my sister Vet,

You were only 15 months older than me. The first born with the pretty curls and the beautiful dresses. I definitely got the short end of the stick “literally”. How opposite we were. I was short and chunky and you were tall and skinny. You had curly hair and I had straight hair. You were quiet and I was loud. We couldn’t be any more opposite. Growing up together with you my sister was the best. I’m sorry for all of the emergency room visits because of me. I was the crazy wild kid but you seemed to be the one always getting hurt like that time you almost lost your pinky toe sliding down that slip n slide we made in the backyard of tata’s house. Our childhood was special and we lived life to the fullest like most kids in the 90’s. Building forts with tatas junk and staying out playing with the neighbors until it got dark. All of these memories will live with me forever. Working together at Harkins and Circut city was so special. You were such a hard worker.
I lived my entire life with a nickname I had no control over so it was my duty to try and make a nickname for you. Daddy long legs, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, big bird. None of them seemed to stick for long. You were an amazing cook and your crafting skills were unmatched. It’s because of you I’m the craft and party decor mommy I am today. You pushed me to want to be as good as you. Matt still says your brownies are better than mine.

I will cherish your last text message you sent me. You told me how proud you were of me and that you loved me and your nieces. Thank you sister for waiting for me. Thank you for letting me have that moment with you. Holding your hand. You Playing with my rings and listening to music together. I know you heard everything I told you. I know you were at peace. I truly do. I felt it. I will cherish those last moments with you forever. I will never stop thinking of you, I will never stop loving you. From your one and only sister - pollo

Now our team has an angel fan! Will be missing our texts during the games.

From NYC to Harvard. She made sure to help me move.

Yvette was my longest-standing close friend. We met in the 5th grade, which means she knew versions of me that almost no one else in my life ever will. We grew up together. We laughed together, traveled through different seasons of life together, and collected more memories than I could ever fit into a few words.
There is something incredibly special about having a friend who has known you since you were a little girl. Someone who remembers where you came from, who watched you become who you are, and whose life became intertwined with yours along the way. Yvette was that person for me.
One of the things I will cherish most is that our friendship wasn't just about our history. We were still making memories. We were still planning days together. We were still laughing, talking about life, and imagining there would always be another time. I think that is why losing her has been so difficult to comprehend. I truly thought we had more time.
But when I think about Yvette, I don't want the day I lost her to overshadow all the years I was blessed to have her. I got to grow up with her. I got to love her daughter and share memories with them both. I got to laugh until we couldn't breathe, have adventures, have ordinary days, and experience the kind of friendship that only comes from decades of knowing and loving someone.
Yvette, thank you for growing up with me. Thank you for all the versions of me that you knew and loved. Thank you for the memories I will carry for the rest of my life. There will always be a part of my story that cannot be told without you in it.
I love you. I miss you. And I will forever be grateful to God that, for so much of my life, I got to call you my friend.

The first photo I ever had of us. The last day of 6th grade at Littleton Elementary, in Mrs Gillinghams class. We were so excited for Underdown Jr High. After that I remember you always taking pictures of and with your friends.

I was so bummed out I wasn’t in this picture. This was after one of our many band concerts. I remember you always walking around the house playing your flute or practicing your piccolo.
And we all loved our band teacher Mr Rimseck who had been teaching us to play since 4th or 5th grade.

I have so many childhood memories with you. I don’t know where to start. We did a lot together as kids. Summer recreation, band, Rollero, castles and coasters, school dances, sleepovers, after school sporting events, and walking home after school together. I spent a big portion of my childhood with you. And then I moved and lost touch until Facebook came around. We didn’t get to get together like when we were kids but we always caught up. I found out you did that with a majority of your childhood friends. Your heart was so big and loving and you truly cared about the people around you and the people from your past. I remember when I ran into you at the Backstreet Boys lawn concert. Out of all places huh? You teased this isn’t a *NSYNC concert lol. I really wish we would have gone on that hike we kept saying we would. But I will cherish all our memories together Yvette. I will always remember your beautiful soul…

Yvette and I favorite picture together and favorite memory out. Keyshia Cole night.

Yvette and I at a Mexico soccer game.
I have a lifetime of memories and stories for days of our adventures.

Our love for the ⭐️Dallas Cowboys⭐️ and the stuff we would say about the Cowboy haters lol. I wished we would of taken pics every time we hung out but we were too busy enjoying our time together to take any. Thanks for being you and caring and loving me. Your Tia will miss you everyday. 🕊🙏🩷

The Vegas trip Yvette made special for my birthday. She made sure to go all out with her crafty decorations in the room! I love you so much my big sister cousin 💙

Cheers to every undocumented random nights. Those are my cherished memories. Just you and I talking about all the childhood memories we had together 💙 and laugh so hard that we start laughing at each other's laughs. The best!
