Archibald Khargie, also known to his family and friends as Rudy Bhola, Valley and Archie, was born to Kaza & Evangeline (Vange) Bhola on March 16th, 1935 in Berbice, Guyana. Archie migrated to the United States in 1969. After spending a very short time in New York, he relocated and lived in Hartford, Connecticut for about 18 years and worked as a machine operator for Royal Typewriter, Colt Firearms and the Allen Manufacturing Company.
While visiting Orlando, Florida in 1986, he fell in love with Florida and purchased a home and a business within months of the same year.
He was preceded in death by his father Kaza Bhola, and, 2 sons-in-law, Pream Singh & Patrick Brooks.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Reawattie (Ree) Khargie of 57 years of marriage, his 8 loving children – (5 Daughters) Ann, Pam, Sandra, Nesha, Rita (3 Sons) Presley, Ted and Glen; 3 sons-in-law, Buddy, Mel and John; and, daughter-in-law, Petra. His 18 wonderful and loving grand-children, Stephen, April, Seema (Nick), Zarina, PJ Singh (Shalini), Michael, PJ Brooks, Deidra, AJ, Christine, Bianca, Chantel, CJ, Ryan, Nicholas, Zachary, Surina and Sarita. He also has 5 great grand-children – Xavier, Jayden, Aarya, Mikhail and Mila.
Archie is also survived by his beloved 95 year old mother, Evangeline (Vange) Bhola, and 7 sisters – Olive, Chano, Golie, Lucille, Rebecca, Esther and Patsy, several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many of his uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews who all loved him very dearly.
Some of Archie’s hobbies were spending time with family, dancing, listening to music, fishing, cooking and watching sports (football/wrestling). He had a great personality and was a fun-loving person. Archie loved life and loved to make everyone around him happy with his charm, wit and style. He has touched the hearts of so many people, making wonderful, everlasting memories in all of us.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb.5 in the Chapel from 5-9pm.
The family will receive guests Friday morning beginning at 9am before the 10am funeral service in the chapel. The onsite Starbucks cafe will be open for family & friends with complimentary beverages Friday morning.
Witness cremation will follow on site, between 12:15 and 12:30pm.
