Berkefield Shenstone Hugh

Berkefield Hugh better known as Butchie or Poppy born to the late Beryl Lochan and the late Fred Hugh Sr. on the 13th day of June 1949 in the beautiful Country of Guyana. Butch or Butchie was the first child out of matrimony of Beryl and Fred Hugh. In 1969 he married Sandra Bernard and out of that union came Shelley Hugh and Berkefield Hugh Jr. In 1978 he got married to Bibi Fazia Kalamadeen and out of that union came Farrah Hugh. Butch loved all three of his kids dearly.

In the early 1980’s Butchie migrated to the U.S. Virgin Islands with his wife Bibi to start a new life around his dad and step-mother. He worked at Mahogany Run Golf Course as Personal Director while living there.

In 1987 Butchie relocated to Washington D.C. where he spent 2 years as General Manager for McDonalds. Then in 1990 he relocated to Orlando, Florida where he spent 26 years until his passing in the Wendy’s Franchise Business. Berkefield Hugh worked very hard and tirelessly. He dedicated long hours into something that he loved. His care and compassion for others extended beyond his immediate family. He always went out of his way to help others.

In his passing he is survived by his ex-wife Fazia. His children: Shelley, Berkefield Jr. and Farrah. His sister: Audrey Hugh-Parris and 6 others. Brothers: Fred Hugh Jr. and Henry, Amir and 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his buddy Danny Dang and many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention. Visitation will be held on Sunday June 4, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Meadows with a Funeral Service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Gotha. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held following the service from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Woodlawn Funeral Home is entrusted to arrangements.
