We gather together in the memories of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Bertie Lee (Miller) Dobos, so that together we may acknowledge and share both the joy in the gift that her life was to us and the pain that her passing brings. In sharing the joy and pain together, we lessen the pain and are able to remember more clearly the joy!
Bertie was just 84 years young when she peacefully entered the gates of heaven on Thursday July 12th 2018 at Largo Medical Center with her loving family by her. It was so hard to say goodbye.
It was a warm sunny Tuesday in a small town in Tennessee that a beautiful, vivacious, blonde baby girl entered into world on November 21st 1933, to Albert Taylor Miller and Stella Leona Barger. She was the youngest of the four daughters they had together. Albert died a few months later and Stella later remarried, blessing Bertie with five brothers.
Known for her ease in frequent conversations with even total strangers, some may be surprised to learn of her extreme shyness in her youth. Yet even as a child, she possessed a contagious smile. Throughout her life she maintained this sweet, happy demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many. Her signature gift of joyfulness showed through her constant smiling, and her kindness will not be forgotten.
On April 4th 1951, Bertie married her sweetheart, John Douglas Dobos in Michigan. He fell in love with her the first time he saw her and exclaimed to his brother George that he would marry her one day. They were married for 39 wonderful years and raised two children, Michael (Kathy) Dobos of Castle Rock, Colorado, and Lynne (Robert) Billings of Dunedin, Florida. Many years after John's passing she had one grandson, Kendal Billings of Dunedin, Florida who was the love and light of her life.
In 1981, Bertie decided to take her career in a different direction and found her calling, her passion as a cast member for Walt Disney World at the World of Disney where she continued to work until her passing. She was the epitome of the Walt Disney quote: "You can design, create, and build the most wonderful place in the world, but it takes the people to make the dream a reality."
The love and kindness she showed to her family, friends, coworkers, and customers will live on and be with us even now that she has gone to be with God. An angel on earth, now an angel in heaven.
