Bettye Lee Cooley, age 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 25, 2026. Bettye was born on May 2, 1936, in Pulaski, Tennessee to Pete and Lucy Garrett. Bettye’s family moved to Miami, Florida when she was a young teenager. It was there, at Miami Edison High School, that she met the love of her life, George Cooley, Jr. They were married for 68 years.
Bettye will be remembered for her kindness and her steadfast devotion to her faith and family. She is survived by her children, Janet Lance (Dale), LeAnne Jackson (Chris), and grandchildren, Alec, Marissa and Katie Jackson and her sister Debbie Lai. She is preceded in death by her husband, George and her sister Linda Hancock.
A graveside memorial service will be held on November 6th at 10:00am at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734.
