Born in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, Bruce attended St. Elizabeth Technical High School, after which he moved to the capital city where he worked as a Custom Broker and later as a Wharfinger at the Kingston Wharves. In 1977 he married his beloved Lorna and they emigrated to the United States in 1978. The couple lived in Boston, Massachusetts for a number of years before relocating to the Orlando area where he resided from 1984 until his death.
Bruce worked for many years as a Warehouse Manager in the food industry. For over thirty years he also worked in various capacities for the Houston Astros during their training season. He loved the Astros training environment and was an avid baseball fan.
Bruce was a dedicated family man who loved his immediate and extended family passionately. He is survived by Lorna, his wife of 42 years, his sons Bruce (granddaughter Aijah), Raymond and Richard (daughter-in-law Alexandra, grandchildren Alexa and Parker), daughter Sherine (grandchildren Sheldon, Kazene, Yanique, Earl, Tanease and Jordan; Great grandchildren Nicole and Malia). He also leaves siblings Barbara, Donald, Clive, Cleveland, Betty-Lou and Timmy as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who mourn his passing and celebrate his life. He was predeceased by his parents Ellis George and Imogene McMorris as well as his brothers Athol and Dennis.
The family will receive friends for the viewing from 11 am to 12 noon on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Fresh Oil Ministries, 8301 Silver Star Road, Orlando, Florida 32818. A celebration service will follow at noon. Interment will be held in Woodlawn Memorial Park immediately after the service.
