Catherine S. Gesso

Catherine S. Gesso, 91, passed away January 21, 2013. Born in West Leisenring, Pa.,on January 2, 1922 she was the 5th of 11 Hallo children. After venturing to Cleveland, Ohio she married the love of her life George Gesso and enjoyed travelling with her Army officer husband. As wife and mother in Maple Hts. Ohio, Kaye, as she was affectionally known, was a stay at home mom and an active force in her children’s lives. She excelled as a den mother, fundraiser, church and school volunteer .

After the family moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Kaye enthusiastically began another career with the Broward County School Board and retired after 17 years of service. In 1984 George and Kaye moved to Casselberry, Fla. proudly celebrating 62 years of marriage before his passing in 2004.

Family was everything to Kaye and along with her strong faith she overcame many obstacles. She will be remembered for her feisty, vibrant nature, love of family, friends, many Hallo family reunions, dancing, playing Rummy-Cube, Canasta and her generous spirit.

Kaye is preceded in death by her beloved husband George, sisters Ethel (Alex) DeMarco , Marge (Louis)Dono and brothers Jaye and Steve(Irma) Hallo, brother-in-law Christy and her little Tally. She leaves to cherish her memory son Richard (Carolyn), daughter Cathy (Martin), sisters Irene Kriss, Elsie (Buz) Fike, Janet (John) Ross , brothers Jim , Sonny (Anita), Frank (Arlene) Hallo, sister-in-law Martha, grandchildren Carol and Dermot Nolan and great-grandchildren Victoria Wilson and Kendall Kilner, her doxie Fancy (with her playmates )and numerous nieces and nephews.

Special thanks and praise to the Martin family of Jacqui, Jon, Quentin and Sofia-you have been a blessing to us all.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 26th at 10 AM with the family receiving friends from 9-10 AM.
