Catherine "Kay" Pluchino

​Catherine (Kay) Pluchino died peacefully on April 20th, 2016 at the age of 90. Kay was born July 6th, 1925 in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of Emilie Hejl and John Wilbur Davis.

​Kay was a loving daughter, sister, mother, wife, and friend. In 1941, she married the late Joseph Pluchino at the very young age of 16. They began their married life in Baltimore, Maryland. Through Joe’s career with the Martin Company they lived in Baltimore, Maryland; El Paso, Texas; and Orlando, Florida. When their three children were of school age, Kay worked as a dental assistant in El Paso and Orlando. Kay and Joe were members of Sacred Heart Traditional Catholic Church in Orlando. They were also long-time active members of the Orlando Italian American Social Club. Kay held various board member positions within the organization. She was also a breast cancer survivor thereby becoming an active volunteer for the charity. Kay also had a deep love for animals. The couple finally retired in Eustis, Florida. After the passing of her husband of 70 years, she lived out the remaining four years in Cocoa, very close to her son and his wife in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

​Catherine Pluchino is survived by her sisters, Ruth Reddinger and Louise (Richard) Kulis, her son, Eric S. (Marianne) Pluchino, 5 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews. Kay was preceded in death in death by her son, Dennis; her daughter, Carol; and her husband, Joe.

​Visitation (including a Rosary) will be held on Sunday, April 24, 2016 from 6-8pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home. Service will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, April 25, 2017 at Woodlawn Funeral Home with interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Orlando. Lastly, the family would like to thank all the kindness friends and family have expressed through phone calls, letters, attendance, thoughts and prayers.
