

Charles Robert (Bob) Lawrence, 90, passed away Monday July 22, 2013. Bob was born on December 31, 1922 in London, United Kingdom, to Katie and Charles Lawrence. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Patricia Joan (Pat) Lawrence. He is survived by daughter and son in law Jeanne and Neil Shuttleworth, son and daughter in law Andrew and Zena Lawrence, grandchildren Natalie and Michael Lawrence and great-granddaughter Vicki Amita Lawrence.
Bob’s memorial service and interment will be on Thursday August 8, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, Gotha, Florida. Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be offered at www.woodlawnfuneralhomegotha.com
Bob had one older sister, Edna. Bob left school at 14 to take up a Printers Apprenticeship, following in the footsteps of his Father. At 18 Bob joined the Royal Air Force and flew B-24 bombers and transport planes in World War II and was awarded the special honour of the ‘Atlantic Star’. After the war, as Best Man at a friend’s wedding he fell in love with one of the bridesmaids, Pat, and they married a year later on 18 October 1947.
They adopted a daughter, Jeanne, and a son, Andrew. Through hard work and ability Bob worked his way up to become Pre-Press Production Manager at Sun Printers in Watford (UK) overseeing production of many prestigious magazines (such as “Woman’s Own”).
Bob and Pat had a large circle of good friends in the UK. He was an accomplished furniture maker, excellent cricketer (playing for his company’s team) and a keen golfer, which he remained until the last few years of his life. Bob and Pat enjoyed travel and visited many places in the UK, Europe, USA and Canada with their daughter Jeanne and son in law Neil.
In 1986 Bob was transferred to Raleigh, North Carolina by his company and Pat joined him. They moved to Metro West in Orlando in 1989 , where Bob worked for Quebecor and enjoyed the wonderful Florida weather and great golf courses. He retired in 1992. He was a loyal supporter of Orlando Magic basketball team. Their son Andy and daughter in law Zena moved to Minnesota and Bob loved spending time with his grandchildren, Natalie and Michael.
Pat’s Alzheimer’s prompted a move to Summerville (Emeritus) in Ocoee in 2005 and she passed away in December 2011. Bob was her constant loving companion . He enjoyed living at Emeritus and made many good friends there. The family would like to pay tribute and give thanks to friends and staff at Emeritus at Ocoee for their wonderful care of Bob.
Bob was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and all his family and friends cherish their memories of him.
