My Uncle Curtis was a wonderful caring man that made me smile and feel the fun in life.  I am sure he is in a special place in heaven.  I wish I could be there with you.  The times we visited with him, Aunt Goldie, my cousins were some of the best memories I have of Florida.  I remember when I was little and going deep sea fishing with them.  They thew away the mold when they made him and my dad. Everyone has wonderful memories to remember him by.  I'm sure he is smiling up there in heaven with all his loved ones that has passed.

Shirley, I am so sorry to hear that your father passed away. I still remember how amazed I was that at his age he was still mowing the lawn. Heaven is surely blessed now that he has arrived. With much love and hugs.

My Great Grandfather was a loving a caring man! Although I did not get to know him as well as I would have liked to the things that I have heard about him are all wonderful!! He was a loving and caring man who would do anything to help you if you were in need. What I do remember of him was that he was always making sure that what money I made I earned and that was the best way to do it! One of the last times that I saw him he made it a point to tell me that every penny that you make counts and don't forget that, and no matter what always be proud of what you have done and what you have become and you will grow up to be happy and a great man. That is the kind of person that he was and it is something great to live by!! He will be missed but his memories will live on. We will see him again when we enter into the lords kingdom with him!! Love you great grandpa!!

t was great that the good Lord let him live to be 100 years. Lots of memories in that time.I also remember the sense of humor he was blessed with.  My family and I send you the best of wishes for your loss. May the good Lord be with your family doing this time.  God Bless love you all

From Evelyn R. Smith--again. I thought I would share my earliest memory of Uncle Curtis with all of you in Florida. He was a welcome force in my early life and I'll never forget him ---or Aunt Goldie. I remember once just after I learned to write my name, in first grade. Mom, Dad and I were visiting Curtis and Goldie and he was playing jacks with me on the floor. I told him I could write my name now,  so he got up, got a piece of paper, and I proudly wrote my name on it to show him. He put it in his pocket to keep, he said. Later he pointed the the lock on the front door and said, "I can put YOU through the keyhole on that door."  I thought about that for a minute and shook my head and replied, "Huh-uh, you can't!" He took the piece of paper, with my name on it, out of his pocket, and folded it up into a tiny slip of paper. Walked to the front door and stuck it through the key-hole. 'There," he laughingly said, "I put you through the key hole!" That was 76 years ago and here I am still telling it! (And laughing)  Love to all, Evelyn

Hello Shirley and family, Ted and I want to add our condolences---we thank the Lord for allowing Curtis to live a whole century. Our world needs more men like him---who will bring smiles and laughter to us. My memory of him will always be how kind and considerate he was, and that I was never in his presence but what he made me happy and joyful. When he was in the nursing home, you wrote, "Dad hasn't lost his sense of humor." That's the way I remember him when I was a child, and that will be my last memory of him---bringing joy to all around him in his last days.
