

Curtis Raines, 100, years old of Orlando, Fl. passed away on May 2, 2012. He was born in Harmony, West Virginia. Curtis went to school and helped his father on the farm until he was 14, when he left home to work on the East Ohio pipeline. He also worked on a passenger ship one summer. It traveled between Cleveland and Buffalo, on Lake Erie. Back in West Virginia; Curtis was married on November 11, 1930 to Goldie Rhodes. They farmed for a while, then Curtis worked in a dairy maintaining the diesel generators, and other odd jobs.After that, he opened his own auto mechanic business, the "Fairplain Garage" which established his 41 year career. He worked with some 'big name' companies and wasoften sent to the factories in the north for classes on new equipment. He retired in 1977 from Ryder Truck Rental.Richard was in Military service in 1951 when Curtis moved his wife Goldie, and children to Florida.Goldie passed away in 1994 and their son Richard in 2004. Curtis is survived by his sons Richard (Jean) Raines of Orlando, Fl. Bobby (Mary) Raines of Blairsville, Ga., Charles (Darlene) Raines of Dixie, Ga.,daughter Betty (Wayne) Carmean of Gotha, Fl., and Shirley Pope of Longwood, Fl., fourteen grandchildren, twenty seven great-grandchildren and ten great- great grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Monday May 7, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home with a funeral service on Tuesday May 8, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
