
Dan is survived by his brothers Thomas A. (Kristine), and Martin E. (Karen), his niece Stephanie
Rose Barnes-Hansen (Christopher), daughter Kaia, and step-son Issaac, his nephew Arthur
Joseph Barnes (Kimberly) and daughter Mackenzie and son Chase. Dan was proceeded in
death by his sister Mary Ellen Higgins, father Joseph Vincent Higgins and mother Laura Leddy Higgins.
Dan was a graduate of TASIS, the American School in Switzerland. He attended Boston
University, the New School for Social Research and received a BFA from the San Francisco Arts Institute.
Dan moved to Orlando, Florida and began his career as a freelance photographer. Over the
next 40 years, Dan developed a loyal client base, photographing conventions in Orlando
and throughout the US. Dan’s favorite gig was as the house photographer at the Hard Rock
Live venue, where he captured unforgettable moments both on and off stage. Dan made
many lasting friendships with the bands he photographed and was a beloved member of the Hard Rock family.
Dan was a well known member of the Windermere and Orlando community. His cutting
humor and deep insights endeared him to all those he met and knew.
Dan loved his family, friends and alumni from TASIS and was passionate about live music
as he traveled the world to see the bands he enjoyed. He loved his cat " Pkitty”, enjoyed
boating and his sports car.
Dan was a kind and generous soul who cared deeply about the people and causes
important to him. We all miss him deeply.
Memorial contributions in Dan's name may be made to the American Cancer Society. A memorial for Dan will be held at a later date.
