Danniel J. Petro age 70 of Windermere, passed away on March 27, 2013 surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He is Survived by his three children, Daughters– Natalie Wallace of Apopka, Tonia Batchelor of Bonita Springs and Son – Thomas Petro of Winter Garden, Five Grandchildren – Kyle, Jessica, Brittany, Jaiden and Danniel and one great grandchild Raelyn, seven sisters Betty, Pat, Sandee, Connie, Terri, Debbie, Michelle and brother Ron. Danniel J. Petro began his career as an Apprentice Electrician for Indiana University in 1963. Continuing his education, he earned a Masters in 1968 in Bloomington, Indiana and relocated to Florida in 1970. In Florida, he worked as an Electrician for Orange County Schools until 1973. Dan acquired his Florida Masters license in 1973. In 1975, Dan received his Florida Teaching Certificate and started an electrician program for Westside Vo-Tech where he taught until 1979 when he founded Amber Electric. Dan sold his company to Integrated Electrical Services (IES) based out of Houston, Texas, in 1998 and joined with IES, as one of their Founding Partners and as the Regional Operating Officer for the State of Florida locations. In 2000, he was promoted to Regional Operating Officer for all the Southeast locations, and in 2002, he was promoted to President of Eastern Operations. In 2006, Dan founded Bright Future Electric LLC, with offices located in Florida and Alabama. Dan held state licenses in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, North and South Carolina. Throughout Dan’s career he was involved and committed to the community, electrical industry, and several organizations including West Orange West Orange Chamber of Commerce, Past Chairman, Current Trustee, West Orange Chamber Committee of 101, West Orange Political Alliance, West Orange Aviation Advisory Board, West Orange Healthcare, American Heart Association for West Orange County, Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Florida. In addition Dan was the recipient of many awards including Edison Award for Electrical Industry Service, FAEC Lifetime Achievement Award, FAEC Man of the Year Award 1995-2002, 2007 Bert Roper Award and most recently The Inaugural Danniel J. Petro, The Bright Future of West Orange County Award. Dan served proudly in the US Marine Corp for four years.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 from noon- 1:00 pm at the St. Pauls Presbyterian Church of Gotha, 1450 Citrus Oak Ave. Funeral and burial will held immediately following the visitation.
