

Mr. Tran was born November 11, 1936 in My Tho province, Vietnam. He married his nursing schoolmate Anh Tran in 1960. They have six children, three boys and three girls. A man of many talents, De Tran was a nurse anesthetist, then a medic officer in South Vietnam Army, and in America, he was an insurance agent, a magazine publisher, a human rights activist.
After the North Vietnamese communist took over South Vietnam in April 1975, ending the Vietnam War, De Tran was sent to "re-education camp" for several years. Escaped from Vietnam, he and his whole family resettled in Florida. A free Vietnam was his passion. He became an advocate for freedom and democracy in Vietnam and was a human rights activist ever since.
He is survived by his wife, Anh Tran; son Danh Tran with wife and 3 children; son Nhan Tran with wife and 2 children; daughter Van Tran; daughter Thuy Tran with husband; son Chung Tran with wife; daughter Binh Hunt with husband and 3 children.
