Delnita Thompson

“Precious in the sight of the Lord Is the death of His Saints.” -Psalms 116:13

Delnita Barnett Thompson was born in Palama, Mississippi to James Barnett, Jr. and Rosie Redden Barnett, one of eighteen children (three were deceased during infancy and fifteen lived into adulthood). She was born on December 28, 1935. She was affectionately known as “Aunt Dell”. Her early years were spent along with her siblings living with their parents in Louisiana. Later moving to Jefferson Davis Island in Mississippi where she met her husband Roy Lee Thompson. Delnita and Roy married in 1952. To their union was born Florstean and Tyrone Thompson. Delnita and Roy moved to Orlando, FL in 1956 when Flora was an infant. Their son Tyrone was born in Orlando. Together they taught them Christian values, good work ethics and the love of family. Delnita was brought up in the church and continued her commitment to God and Church service in Orlando, FL. She was known by all as a praying woman who loved God! Delnita worked for 45 years in the linen industry and was honored for her dependability and honest work ethic. Delnita loved reading her Bible and praying. She prayed consistently for her family and that God’s will would be done in their lives. God welcomed Delnita home on November 25th from Orlando Regional Medical Center amidst family members. Delnita’s legacy, the gift that she leaves us, is a solid foundation in Christ, knowledge of the power of prayer, the importance of family, and an excellent work ethic. Precious memories will be cherished by her devoted family and friends: the love of her life and devoted husband of 60 years: Roy Lee Thompson; two loving and devoted children: Flora Stedford (Valentine), of Orlando, FL and Tyrone Thompson (Ella) of Apopka, FL; two grandchildren: Brandon and Treien Thompson both of Sanford, FL; one great grandson: Brandon Jerod (BJ) Thompson of Orlando; three sisters: Barbara McCree of Orlando, FL, Carola McFarland of Saginaw, MI, Irene (Peecola) Barber of Los Angeles, CA; two brothers: Earl Barnett (Arlene) of Orlando, and Leon Barnett (Katherine) of Saginaw, MI and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
