On Sunday, March 18, 2018, Denny passed away from complications relating to heart and renal failure. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Denny relocated to Orange County Florida in January 1980, with his wife and two children, where he continued his career in law enforcement as a deputy sheriff with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. He was subsequently promoted to Detective in the major case unit and later as the Department’s certified polygraph examiner. He received the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Achievement Award, the Unit Citation for continued excellence in investigation of sex offenders, and the Department’s Merit Commendation for bravery. Denny had a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Baltimore and a Masters Degree in criminal justice from Southwest University. He also received specialized training from the Department of Defense and the Israeli Intelligence Service. He was certified through the U.S. Department of Justice as a Criminal Justice consultant and acknowledged as an expert witness in violent crimes in the Ninth Judicial Circuit. After retiring from the Sheriff’s Office in 1996, he established Connors Polygraph & Investigative Services, located in south Orange County. During his career, Denny conducted over 3600 polygraph examinations which included forensic polygraphs exams for the Public Defender’s Office in the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit, as well as polygraphs on convicted sex offenders in Brevard, Lake, Orange and Osceola counties. He was featured twice in such TV shows as TV’s Court, as well as several books including SCAMS and True Detective. Denny will be remembered for his commitment and love of law enforcement and his great sense of humor! He is survived by his wife, Theresa (Teri) of 54 years and his children, Shawn Connor, (who had followed in his footsteps in law enforcement); daughter Michelle Wagner, and grandchildren: Amanda, Noah and Zachary Wagner. A memorial mass will be celebrated in his honor at Holy Family Catholic Church, 5125 S. Apopka Vineland Road, in southwest Orange County, on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at 8:30 a.m., followed by interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 400 Woodland Cemetery Road, Gotha, Florida.
