

Dinchandra Harpaul, also known as Aunty ‘Dowla’, passed on at Orlando Medical Center, on August 6, at the age of 91. She was born in Plantation Cottage in Mahaicony, Guyana in South America. She was the daughter of the late Behari and Boodia Sangroo.
She was well known in Guyana and New York for her work in spreading the teachings of the Vedas. She was an excellent singer of bhajans and worked very hard to raise her six children. She was known as the “Avon Lady” and was even awarded a golden key for being the best sales representative in Guyana. She was involved in the foundation of the Arya Spiritual Center in New York.
Dinchandra Harpaul was the devoted wife of the late Cecil Harpaul and mother to six children: Viedyawattie, the late Chandradutt, the late Sewdutt, Vishnudutt, Nalini, and Narain. She was also the grandmother of Angelo, Viedya, Niroopa, Nadia, Dev, Priya, Michael, Monica, Anil, Anjali, Archana, Arati, and Vivek. As well as the great-grandmother to Jeremy, Gwendolyn, Matthew, Nandini, Aashiyana, and Aadesh.
