

Dolores Lahey Padgett was born on September 16, 1922 in Green Bay Wisconsin. She moved to St. Cloud, Florida when she was very young. While attending St. Cloud High School she met her future husband, Harvey Padgett and was married for over 60 years. She was the Florida State Diving Champion two years in a row while at St. Cloud High. She had many skills. She obtained her pilots license in the 1940’s and loved flying. She became a welder during World War II and was also a riveter (one of the original “Rosie the Riveters). She worked in shipyards in San Diego, Corpus Christie and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. When Martin Marietta came to Orlando she went to work there and later moved to Sun Bank where she worked for over 20 years and retired as a supervisor from the MasterCard Division. She was a member first of St. James Catholic Church and then when St. John Vianney was founded she became one of the first members to the church. She was proud of her service to the church and community, sponsoring new members to the church. She volunteered for the American Red Cross for many years and faithfully called shut INS and helped in many ways over the years. She was predeceased in by her husband, Harvey (1998), son David (1975), daughter, Jean (2008), and grandson Mathew. She is survived by her sons, Gerald (Jerry) Padgett of Knoxville, TN; Bob Padgett (Kathy) of Rockvale, TN; daughter , Judy Stanford (Robert) of Winter Park, Florida; grandsons, David Mayer (Hildreth) of York, PA; Joseph Mayer, Daytona Beach; Mitch Kimbro of Navarre, FL; Dr. Stephen Padgett of San Francisco, CA; and Michael Padgett of Knoxville, TN; granddaughters, Diana Kimbro , Honolulu, HI and Kimberly Padgett Howell (Jeff) of Murfreesboro,TN; she is also survived by several great grandchildren, Kaley and Jacey Kimbro and David’s Mayer’s children, Drake Mayer, Bryce Mayer, Brodi Mayer, Logan Mayer, and Cassandra Mayer. Visitation will be held on Friday February 28, 2014 from 12:00 to 1:00pm with a service to follow at 1:00pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Gotha.
