Donald was born on September 2nd, 1937 in Manchester, New Hampshire. He loved New Hampshire and was a very proud graduate of Manchester High School Central, the class of 1957 (after a few years of major struggles in a French speaking only grammar school). He went on to complete college courses at St. Anselm College; another proud and humble achievement. Donald boldly served the US in the Air Force as a cook. He continued to prepare those huge pots of soup for years after.
Donald was a devout Catholic all of his life. He would never miss Mass and enjoyed Bible study groups. He moved to Florida in 1971 with his family. He loved St Margaret Mary in Winter Park, FL and was a parishioner for 55 years. Once in Florida he worked for Lockheed Martin as an aerospace engineer until his retirement in 2002. He also completed his Associates Degree at Rollins College.
Life took him down life’s normal roads of marriage and children and family conflicts. He leaves behind a daughter Patti (married to Rick) and 2 grandchildren; Hannah Bartz and Justin Bartz (married to Reagan). He truly loved them.
Donald loved taking cruises, model railroading, a perfect yard, taking care of plants, and maintaining an immaculate home. He loved big family dinners and celebrations; especially celebrations for his friends’ accomplishments.
Donald sincerely treasured and admired the people in his life. He was always quiet, humble and loved by everyone who met and knew him. He always held a deep love for everyone who touched his life. Nothing really mattered more to him then his sincere friends; some life long and others a few weeks. He was still active with his first-grade classmates sharing stories. He could never really express his love and gratitude for them adequately. So now, thank you and he loves you! He is now at peace in heaven. May 27, 2026
