MOUNT DORA- Donald Carroll “DC” Taylor, 78, of Mount Dora passed away, Thursday, June 26, 2025, at his residence. He was born March 5, 1947 in Keokuk, Iowa to Leslie Carroll Taylor and Margaret Collins Taylor. He married Debra Gwyn Norman Busby on July 2, 2004 in Sanford, Florida.
He enjoyed golfing, watching baseball and football, and he loved to bowl. He was a fan of The Ohio Buckeyes the Florida Gators and a forever fan of The Dallas Cowboys and The LA Dodgers. He enjoyed watching television, and listening to The Beatles. DC loved the beach and Universal Studios. In high school he ran the hurdles, and was the catcher for the baseball team. He loved his children, and he loved being a Grandpa. He loved his church family which he was a part of for 21 years.
DC moved to Central Florida from Iowa around 1971. He worked several places, and was working as a manager of Macy’s in Sanford when he met Deb. He worked at Home Depot for 20+ years and retired from there almost two years ago. He had recently gone back to work part-time for Wal-Mart in Mount Dora, until his health began to fail.
DC is survived by three daughters, Heather Taylor of Arcadia, Florida, Leslie Taylor of Orlando, Florida, Leigh Taylor and Fiance’ Adam Williams of Lynn Haven, Florida, and one son, Donald Taylor and wife Mandy Taylor of Marshville, North Carolina. Two step-children, Step-son Landon and wife Melou Busby of Maitland, Florida and Step-daughter Erica and husband Daniel Dawkins of Titusville, Florida. DC was a loving grandpa to ten grandchildren Michael Taber III, Jason Martin, Jacobb Foster II, Wyatt Foster, Cierra Foster, Madi Taylor, Drew Taylor, Emily Taylor and Katie Taylor, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Ethan Martin. He is survived by one brother Steven and wife, Carmela Taylor of Clermont, Florida, one sister-in-law, Donna Britt of Carrollton, Texas and a brother-in-law Douglas and wife Kathleen Norman of Winter Springs, Florida. He is survived by his Mother-in-Law, Peggy Norman, of Apopka, Florida, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and a host of family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Orange Avenue Church of Christ, 1511 E. Orange Avenue, Eustis, Florida 32726. Kenny Backhaus officiating.
