Dorothy Frances Austin was born in Orlando, Florida on February 10, 1926 to Adel and John Cape. Dorothy had three siblings, Edwin Cape (deceased) of Jacksonville, FL, Mary Evelyn Story of Arabia, GA, and Henry Cape of Clermont, FL. Dorothy was married to Kenneth Austin and they raised four children, Larry Hoshaw, Linda Viney, Patricia Newkirk (deceased), and Debbie Cheyne. While raising her children, Dorothy was a homemaker, an active member of the College Park Baptist Church, and also volunteered at various organizations. She and her good friend Helen Morton were active members of the Daughters of the Nile. Later in life Dorothy worked as a teacher’s aide and then as a teacher at Easterseals. Dorothy’s love of children was enduring, she was active in helping her children raise her seven grandchildren and six great‐grandchildren. In her latter years Dorothy lived in Georgia with her daughter and son‐in‐law, Ian. She enjoyed having lunch with Ian’s coworkers, Taco Tuesday with her Bay Colony neighbors, and she traveled the US East and West coasts staying in‐contact with her family. Dorothy passed away on March 30, 2020 and has returned to Florida to be buried alongside her husband.
Dorothy will have a private gravesite burial and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
