

She was born August 25, 1928 in Oradell, NJ to Edna and Richard Ackerman.
Growing up she enjoyed going to the family cabin on the Delaware River for weekends where the family camped and continued to build the log cabin that family and friends enjoyed for many years.
Dorothy graduated from Ridgewood High School in 1946.
She moved to the Minneapolis MN working for Litton Industries and OM Scott and Sons Seed Co.
Dorothy married Ottis Erickson October 29, 1966. They soon moved to Florida to retire and enjoy community activities and their memberships in the Masons, Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile. Dotte, as Dorothy liked to be called was passionate about her work in these organizations along with garden clubs in the Central Florida area. Her involvement and dedication to these organizations were notable. She received many accolades for all she did for the good of all the organizations.
They also spent much time boating and traveling the country in their motorhome and always with their dog, Moppet on board.
Being of Dutch and German descent, Dotte was proud to be a member of the David Ackerman Descendants. Leaving Holland in 1662 the first ancestors landed in New York to find religious freedom. They settled the Wall St. area of Manhattan. They established the Dutch Reformed Churches throughout the Hudson River Valley along with parts of New Jersey.
Dotte is survived by her daughters Cheryle Karnikis and Kathleen Richard, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
