

Edwin Leon Barfield, 94, of Orlando, FL, was called to be with Christ on January 11, 2025. He was born on March 15, 1930, in Griffin, GA, to the late Culver E. and Ola R. Barfield (nee Crosby). His family moved to Dade City, FL, when he was 13. He was a 1948 graduate of Pasco County High School, served in the US Army and was a 1957 graduate of the University of Florida with a degree in civil engineering. Upon graduation, he went to work for the Glenn L. Martin Company, later known as Martin Marietta and Lockheed Martin, where he worked for 35 years. He spent most of his adult life in Orlando and was an active member of First Baptist Church of Orlando and the Seekers Life Group Sunday School Class.
He was predeceased by his first wife of 22 years, Carolyn Patricia Stephens Barfield, his second wife of 37 years, Marlene Gribble Barfield and his sister Betty Jean McLeod. He is survived by his son Edwin Randall Barfield (Jamee) of Orlando; daughter Amy Lauren Kreller (Dale) of St. Leonard, MD; sister Norma Ruth “Patsy” Vaughn of Gainesville; brother George Wendell Barfield (Betty) of Clearwater; step-children Ellen Jordan (Ken) of Austin, TX; Erik Matheson, San Jose, CA; Edwin Matheson (KT), Piedmont, SC and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. The family expresses their appreciation to Nanette Washington and Ange Hilaire for their love and compassion while they were caring for him.
A funeral service will be held on February 1st at 11:00 at First Baptist Church of Orlando – Henry Chapel, 3000 S. John Young Parkway, Orlando, FL, with viewing beginning at 10:00. After the funeral service, interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park, with a lunch reception to follow at Woodlawn Funeral Home.
