She was born in Birmingham, AL on December 31, 1936. Betsy graduated from Ramsey High School (Birmingham), and received her Bachelors degree from the University of Alabama. She married her high school sweetheart Garr Stevens Williams, Sr. on May 8, 1959.
Betsy worked in administration for AT&T and Hospice of Savannah. She was an avid gardener and was an active member of the Parkersburg Garden Club. Betsy loved knitting and reading, always with a cat sleeping in her lap. She enjoyed visits to the North Carolina mountains with friends and to Orange Beach, AL with family.
She is survived by her four sons: Garr S. Williams, Jr. (Elizabeth), Stephen H. Williams (Dawn), Neal S. Williams (Robbin), Shaler T. Williams (Mina), eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Service will be held at a future date in Birmingham, AL. In lieu of flowers, please make charitable donations to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
