Ellen Lorraine Akers

Ellen Lorraine Akers, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away Tuesday, January 14 at the age of 89. She was born in Shortt Gap, Virginia on April 15, 1935 and later married her beloved husband Allen Wayne Akers. Together they moved to Florida in 1955 where they raised a beautiful family, and she had a long and fulfilling career in the family business at A&B Electric Co. She was a member of both Powers Drive Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Clermont throughout her lifetime, singing in the choir and actively participating in her Sunday School groups.

Ellen had a passion for her family, loved horses, baked everyone’s favorite carrot cake, enjoyed music, singing and service to others.

Ellen is survived by her children Myra Denise (Akers) Hayes and Michele Lorraine (Akers) Payton; her grandchildren Mark, Adam, Amanda, Emily, Erin, Royce, Audrey, Andrew and Katie; her siblings Peggy Plaster and Danny Horton; daughters-in-law Donna Akers, Christine Akers; and MANY great grandchildren.

Ellen goes to greet her beloved husband, sons David Allen Akers and Gregory Wayne Akers, her great-grandson Lincoln as well as other loved ones in Heaven.

A graveside service for Ellen will be held Sunday, January 26, 2025 from 2:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Rd, Gotha, FL 34734.
