

Elsie was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 12th, 1929. She spent her early childhood on the beautiful island of Grenada in the West Indies with her grandmother and Auntie. After the war she returned to the US and attended Morris High School in the Bronx where she was an Arista Student. After graduation she studied to become a radiologist and worked as an X ray technician for the New York Department of Health where she met her first husband Learmond Puckering. She loved the medical profession which prompted her to continue her education and attended Hunter College in New York City where she obtained a bachelor’s of science degree in nursing.
In 1980 Learmond passed away unexpectedly. After his passing she continued to work for the Department of Health until her retirement and then relocated to Punta Gorda, Florida. She eventually was remarried to long time friend, Hastin Dobson. They lived in Punta Gorda till his death in 2008. After Hastin’s passing she moved to Solivita, a retirement village in Kissimmee, Florida and remained in Kissimmee till her passing.
Elsie is survived by her two sons, Malcolm and Andre Puckering. Four grandchildren, Janelle, Leonardo, Mikayla, and Maliah Puckering. Her sister Eileen Mewa and nephew Steven Mewa. And God children Geoffrey Lord and Angela Lord Geddis.
Elsie will forever be loved and remembered by her family and friends.
