Elvin David Sweeney Jr.

He was a graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School.

Elvin was married to Betty Ann (Pittman) Sweeney on December 2, 1950. He had a career in heavy equipment and oil and worked for Kanawha Steel and Equipment Company and Amsoil.

He had a passion for Jesus, people, plants and most importantly his family and was a member of Faith Family Nazarene Church of Winter Garden Florida.

Elvin is survived by his children, Cynthia Sweeney of Soldotna, Alaska, Michael and Debbie Sweeney or Jacksonville, North Carolina, Judy and Dana Jett of Hurricane, West Virginia, Keith Sweeney of Bushnell, Florida, Mark and Patty Sweeney of Crosslane, Rodney and Dana Sweeney of Woodbridge, Virginia, and Candice Nugent of Clermont, Florida; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and many other family and friends to cherish his memory.

A visitation will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home, located at 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Florida, on November 13, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at the same location on November 13, 2025, starting at 12:00 pm. A committal service will take place at Woodlawn Funeral Home on November 13, 2025, beginning at 1:00 pm.
