

Evelyn Mae Snead Crosby went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday morning, September 18, 2014, just days shy of her 95th birthday. Evelyn was born on September 26, 1919 in Birmingham, Alabama to Simeon and Virdie Broadnax Snead and was the youngest of eight children.
Evelyn grew up in Jacksonville, FL where she later met her husband, Benjamin Clemson Crosby, Sr., known to many as “B.C.,” while both were employed at the Independent Life Insurance Company. Jacksonville was their home before being transferred to Charleston, SC and eventually to Orlando where they resided since the early 1950’s. After her children were older, she went back to work as the financial secretary at College Park Baptist Church for 17 years where she was also a member for almost 60 years. In addition to being a devoted mother to her children, she was an extremely loving and caring grandmother. Family and friends enjoyed many hours at the lakeside gatherings hosted at their Lake Silver home.She was predeceased by her parents and all siblings, husband, and eldest son Benjamin Clemson Crosby, Jr. Evelyn is survived by her children David Cook Crosby (Sharon) of Hickory, North Carolina, Joyce Crosby Paben of Statesville, North Carolina and Sandy Crosby Temple of Orlando; grandchildren David Christopher Crosby, Carin Crosby Margiotta, Erin Crosby Porter, John Scott Doan, Jeffrey Matthew Doan, Ashley Temple Gauthier, and Andrew Nicholas Temple, nine great grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces.The family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation for all your love, kindness and support given during Evelyn’s journey home.
