Gay Elaine Alewine

Born January 25, 1940, in Deanville, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Karl M. and Jane C. (Byrne) Shoemaker.

She was an active member of Church on the Drive on Edgewater Dr. Orlando for many years serving on various committees.

Survivors include three children: Mary Marsh of Alabama, Fred Marsh and his wife Valerie of Arizona, and Bonnie Marsh of Sanford; son-in-law Jose Vicente; four grandchildren: Casey, Andrew, Sara, and Sydney; two great-grandchildren: Hayley and Lauren; sister Judy Lewis and her husband Robert of Orlando; and brother Patrick Shoemaker and his wife Dee of Tennessee.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Becky Vicente and her granddaughter Jessica Pressley; her two sisters Ruth Crissman and Lois Henry; and her beloved dachshund Amanda.

Gay was cherished as a kind and loving soul leaving behind many friends from work and church in addition to her family. She worked most of her life in the insurance industry but spent the last 13 years of her career as the smiling face at the reception desk at Orlando Health’s Visiting Nurse Association.

Arrangements are at the direction of Woodlawn Funeral Home in Gotha, FL.
