George Anagnosti, 75, of Altamonte Springs, FL, died June 23, 2022. He was born November 14, 1946, in Rhodes, Greece. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luis and Veronika (Kapetanakis) Anagnosti, brother, Spiro John Anagnosti, and daughter, Melissa Anagnosti, Esquire. He is survived by his wife, Rosa Anagnosti, sister, Evelyn (Anagnosti) Varagiannis, and two nieces, Veronica,
and Mary.
George graduated from Cliffside Park High School in 1964. He then attended St. Peter’s College in Jersey City, NJ, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management in 1970. While working in Collections in 1972, at Allied Bank International New York City, he met Rosa, who worked in Letters of Credit. He was attracted to this beautiful girl who became the love of his life and future wife. George married Rosa-Maria Lopez in 1973 in Tenafly, NJ. They were married almost 50 years and had one child together, Melissa Marie Anagnosti. Melissa preceded her parents in death on May 18, 2013. In September of 1995, George joined Allstate Financial Services, LLC where he worked as a
Personal Financial Representative until his passing away.
In 1978, Rosa received a knock on her door from Jehovah’s Witnesses, who asked her if she would like a Bible study. Later that day she asked George if she could study with the Witnesses. George always related the story, saying that as a typical Greek, he asked how much it was going to cost him. When he found out it was free, he had no objection, but he himself was too busy watching his
favorite sports teams on the weekends.
Rosa studied for about 6 months without George. Then, being mischievous, George asked the ladies who studied with Rosa a question, thinking they wouldn’t be able to answer. He asked, “If God is a God of love, why is there so much suffering on the Earth?”. He was impressed when they answered all his questions using the Bible. After that George started his own study of the Bible. George and Rosa were baptized together as Jehovah’s Witnesses on December 27th, 1980.
It has been said that a good man proves that God exists. George Anagnosti not only proved that God exists, but he also proved that the laws and commandments of the true God Jehovah are superior
to anyone else's god by the way he lived his life as a Christian shepherd. For over 40 years he was a people’s elder, in both Ridgefield, NJ, and West Altamonte Springs Congregations. George
will be missed by his physical family, and a large spiritual family of brothers, sisters, sons, and daughters.
