Mrs Curry was my math teacher in 7th grade. I have for so long thought of her. She always made time for me and because of her , made math much easier for me.  I have always missed her and know now she is with her daughter. Loved her and even now.

Miss Curry was my teacher at Steinbeck. She was the most warm hearted person I've ever known. I have thought of her many times over the year. I have picture a picture of her at my first wedding in1980. Rest in peace dear lady!

I am so very sorry to hear about Ms Curry! I had her as a teacher at Steinbeck Middle School nearly 43 years ago.  Ms Curry was the best teacher I ever had and i have thought of her over the years! She will always be remembered!

I was fortunate to have Ms.  Curry in 1976 at John Steinbeck Junior High School in the 9th grade.  I remember how determined she was that we all succeed.  She was no nonsense but had a big heart and interest in us all.  After school was out, she invited some us to her house to join Mr. Liehr and Ms. Nakashima  in celebrating our promotion from John Steinbeck Junior High School to the newly formed Gunderson  High School.  When I became a teacher in Los Angeles, while my colleagues all kept their distance from the students, I did not.  Like Ms. Curry, I got to know all about my students in school, and actually got involved in their lives after the school bell.  I went into their neighborhoods, homes and met their families.  I am know retired from public education, a career that was life changing for me.  I have many students that are in their 40s and 50s, that thank me  for being there for them back in high school or teaching them about life.  The person they really should be thanking is Ms. Curry for showing me that it was perfectly alright to care for and to love your students and to  be involved in their lives both inside and outside of school if that is what they needed.

Ms. Curry left a huge impression on me at Steinbeck Jr. High in her 9th grade English class in 1982.  She was an incredible mix of kindness and strength.   The lessons she taught stay with me today and I have tried to pass them on to my kids.

Miss Curry was a phenomenal teacher!  Almost 40 years later, I still remember her class, the many things she taught us, and always "Strive for Excellence"!   She invited some of us to her home on Tampico Way... I remember the beautiful backyard, I think she told me that she had saved so that she could buy the house with cash, rather than pay mortgage interest to a bank.  She was wise, and shared her wisdom.  She had a great smile, and I loved the sound of her laugh!  If only all children had the experience of a dedicated and passionate teacher who cared about her students the way Miss Curry cared about her's...  she lived her values, and left a lasting impression on so many of  us.   She is missed by many.


I had Miss Curry at Steinbeck, and she was the most wonderful, no non-sense, understanding, and respectful teacher you could ever ask for. I had a habit of talking in class (a lot) and she would always patiently and firmly steer me back to the lesson at hand.  She never raised her voice, and she didn't need to, because she commanded our respect. A wonderful teacher and a classy lady. Rest in power, much love to her family for they have lost an amazing human being.

I was in Miss Curry's honor roll English class at SteinbeckMiddleSchool in 7th grade. She was also my mom and aunts teacher whom Miss Curry remembered.  
She was lovingly strict and challenged me to be a better student and human being. 
I was a challenge she once told me. I wrote a book report and used the synopsis almost word for work! Ugh!! I can still see Miss Curry and her disappointed smirk and she let me have it! 
R.I.P. beautiful soul

I will never forget her infectious laughter.  She made everyone around her feel happy.  I know she was loved and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
