Helen Jeanette Alexander passed from her earthly home to her eternal heavenly home on March 4 at 1:17 AM. Helen was born on Easter Sunday in Orlando, FL on April 8, 1928. She was a lifelong Native Floridian living around the Orlando area. Helen is predeceased by her husband of 56 ½ years, Roy Wilson Alexander, and by her parents , Forrest and Hester Chambers. She is also predeceased by her brother, Vernon Chambers. She is survived by her sister, Fern Barnard of Casselberry, FL., and brother, Lyle Chambers residing in California.
She is survived by a large loving family of 6 children. Jeanette Alexander Rafter who is predeceased by her husband, Jim with 4 children; Kathy Alexander with 4 children; Becky Diggs and husband Jim with 2 children; Jeff Alexander and wife Nancy with 3 children; Jane DuChaine and husband Frank with 3 children; Teena Gawler and husband Steve with 3 children. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.
Helen was a hard working wife and mother. She had a great love for her family bringing her many treasured memories. As a child she loved to bake cookies and checker board cakes. She grew up in the Winter Park Church of the Brethren where she was a living example of her faith. Over her lifetime she faithfully served as a Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader, Church Board member, District Board member, Annual Conference Delegate, Lay Speaker and Deacon. She also traveled to Puerto Rico on several mission trips. Helen and her husband Roy loved to travel all over the United States in their RV, including 2 trips to Alaska. Helen’s Sister-in-Laws were very important to her. She enjoyed and maintained those relationships spending special time with each of them when she could. Helen had a passion for music which she shared by singing Alto in the choir or playing the Piano when needed. In her personal time she was an avid reader, loved to spend time with family going out to eat, scrapbooking with family members and playing Word Search. Helen lived an active life until her stroke in February 2017.
A private graveside service celebrating the life of Helen will be on March 13th. Arrangements are being handled by Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home, Gotha, Florida.
