As a young man, Henry initially attended seminary school with the intention of becoming a priest. After careful reflection, he realized that path was not the calling he wished to pursue. He later attended GB Damien, where he studied diesel mechanics and began building the foundation for a life defined by hard work, determination, and service to others.
Henry was a devoted father and family man. From his first marriage, he welcomed two children, Henry Robert Brutus II and the late Alexandra Brutus. He also lovingly raised Richard Sévère as his own. In his second marriage, he was blessed with triplets—Michele, Gabriel, and Raphael. Ten years later, the family grew once more with the birth of Naya Brutus.
Throughout his life, Henry demonstrated remarkable ambition and dedication. He spent many years serving as an Assistant Director for Air d’Haïti, where he played an important role in the company’s operations. He was also a visionary entrepreneur and became the first person to develop property in Christ-Roi, Haiti. His contributions to the community were so significant that the road where his property stood eventually became known as Brutus Street. Alongside his family, he actively managed properties and owned a construction supply business, helping support the growth and development of his community.
After immigrating to the United States and facing the challenges that many Haitians experienced during difficult times in their homeland, Henry dedicated nearly 17 years of service as a custodian at Disney. He worked diligently until retiring at the age of 75.
In November 2025, Henry was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer. With remarkable courage, strength, and faith, he battled the disease for seven months. Surrounded by the love of his family, he passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, at approximately 2:30 a.m.
There is far more that could be said about Henry Brutus than any obituary could contain. Those who knew him will remember him as a loving husband, devoted father, loyal friend, and a man whose generosity and dedication touched countless lives. He leaves behind a legacy of perseverance, faith, hard work, and love for his family.
By the grace of God, we are humbled and grateful to have shared our lives with such a caring father. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory, values, and love will continue to live on in all who knew him.
