Herbert A. Tillman was born on January 22, 1941, in Orlando, Florida, and remained a proud lifelong resident of his hometown. After graduating from William R. Boone High School, Herbert explored a variety of jobs before finding his true calling in law enforcement. In 1962, he began his career with the Orlando Police Department, later serving as an investigator for the State of Florida. His journey ultimately led him to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, where he dedicated many years of service before retiring in 1982.
Even after his official retirement, Herbert continued to protect and serve through the private security industry for 38 years. It was during his tenure as Chief of Security for the Isleworth community that he met the love of his life, Sybil. Together, they shared many wonderful years as Isleworth residents, building a life filled with joy and companionship. Herbert and Sybil became active members of First Baptist Church of Orlando, where they served faithfully as life group leaders. Through their ministry, they built lasting friendships with fellow believers who shared their love for the Lord.
A devoted husband, friend, and servant of Christ, Herbert often expressed gratitude for the blessings of his family and the joy of serving his Savior. His life was guided by faith, and he cherished Psalm 23: “The Lord is my Shepherd…” May his legacy of service, love, and devotion live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Services will be held at the Henry Chapel, First Baptist Orlando, 3000 South John Young Pkwy, Orlando, FL 32805, on Thursday, August 7th, 2025, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
