Hinton Rex Grimes

Hinton Rex Grimes age 68 went to be with our Lord & Savior on July 26, 2015. Hinton was born on September 3, 1946 in Opp, AL. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Thelma and Encie Grimes. Hinton was a graduate of Lakeview High School, Class of 1966. He was well liked and a talented football player. Having a personality of always being a team player was how he lived his life always thinking of others. After graduation he joined the air force and spent most of his enlistment in Vietnam serving his country. While there he was exposed to Agent Orange which may have contributed to his early death. His son Toby was born while he was in Vietnam and was his pride and joy when returning home.

Hinton worked with Tampa Electric for many years after returning home. He also worked with Nuclear Power while living in Ashtabula, Ohio for many years. He eventually came back to his hometown of Winter Garden and worked with Custom Metal Designs the remainder of his career.

He was happily married to his high school sweetheart, previously known as Melanie Wingfield until his death. He was happiest when watching his favorite college football team, the Florida Gators, Stock Car Races, or most of all surrounded by his grandchildren, Thomas, Sophia, Matthew (he unfortunately never met), and Peyton, his step grandchild.

Hinton was always witty and loved to laugh and make people laugh. Family gatherings were full of lots of laughter and fun when he was present. We will miss his presence, his smile, his wit, his caring for others, his laughter and his love. He will never be absent from our hearts

Hinton is survived by his wife of nearly 24 years, Melanie Grimes, Son, Toby Grimes, Step children, Bobby and Jennifer Orr., adopted daughter: April Grimes, Brothers: Saul (Ann) Grimes, Bryan (Mary) Grimes, Sister, Dorothy (Bo) Alligood, Four grandchildren: Thomas, Sophia, Matthew and Peyton, and many nieces and nephews

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2015 at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734 at 10:00 AM. The burial will be at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL at 1:30 PM following the memorial service.
