It is with deepest regret that Seminole County Fire Department announces the passing of Retired Assistant Chief Howard “Don” Poole. Assistant Chief Poole started with Seminole County Fire Department as a founding member in October of 1974 and retired on April 1, 1998. During his tenure he served as an Assistant Chief on A Shift and as an Assistant Chief of Training where he mentored and trained many…of the current firefighters of the organization.
He started his fire service career with the City of Atlanta and served in the fire service during the Vietnam War. He served as a fire instructor at the Florida State Fire College, Seminole State and Lake County Vo Tech.
He is survived by his wife Jean, his son Tony Poole, his daughters Tina McGuire, Deborah Garland, and Cherri Sims, and by his Step Children: Wayne Sargent, Deborah Wills, Paul Bekemeyer, and Brenda Traywick.
A Memorial Service will take place At Woodlawn Funeral Home , 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, Florida 34734, on March 25, 2016 at 11:00 am.
