James worked for the Orange County Highway Department for many years where he subsequently retired. He had a passion for writing songs, playing his guitar and studying God's Word.
James is preceded in death by his loving parents Charlie and Nellie Crockett, a daughter Doris Ann Starks, a grandson Jason Grant Crider, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
He is survived by his loving wife Kathleen Ann Crockett, his daughters; Freida Kay Payne, Lorie Sue Lanier and spouse Harry Richard Barry Jr., grandchildren; Chastie Holland, Tracie Fultz, Tory Starks, David Dew, Dylan Lanier, and Stacie Fultz, 7 Great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, and 2 loving sisters.
A Visitation will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734 on September 4, from 11:00-1:00 PM.
