James "Jimmy" Howard Ford, 78, of Davenport, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on June 12, 2026, after battling bladder cancer.

Born on April 21, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, Jimmy lived a life defined by hard work and devotion to his family. Over the years, he called Chicago, Orlando, and Nashville home before settling in Davenport, Florida.

On October 28, 1971, Jimmy married the love of his life, Kathy Lou Harper, in Orlando, Florida. Together they shared nearly fifty-five years of marriage, creating a lifetime of memories and building a family that brought him endless pride and joy.

Jimmy is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy Lou Ford; his son, Heath Lynn Ford; his daughter, Nikki Jade Ray; his grandchildren, Clifton Joseph Ford, Takoda James Ford, Randall William Ford, Angelique Jade Ray, and Trent Gabriel Ray; and his siblings, Starr Lee Lemois, Sandra Gail Rodenbrock, and Michael Stephen Ford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Lee Ford and Gwendolyn Maxine Ford.

Those who knew Jimmy will remember his kindness, determination, sense of humor, and unwavering dedication to his family. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and treasured every opportunity to watch them grow and succeed. Though he will be deeply missed, his love, lessons, and memories will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

In accordance with his wishes, Jimmy will be cremated, and his ashes will be privately scattered according to his final wishes.
