Rusty met his beloved wife, Sharon on a blind date almost 60 years ago, and he’s been loving his bride ever since. They built a wonderful family together with generations of creative nicknames, laughter, love and honor, both in military and in civilian life. He always kept a positive attitude. Even through life’s many trials and his own struggles, he always managed to push through to serve others. Rusty’s fun but honorable character influenced the friends of his children and grandchildren as well, extending his legacy far beyond blood.
He was a painter by trade, owning his own business at one time. In his free time, he faithfully cheered on his Raiders, FSU, and Dale Earnhardt #3. He rode motorcycles, was a fan of Bob Dylan, enjoyed time on the boat, and always had a quick, intelligent, creative quip, or a funny story in his own flavor of “Rust-ese”.
His family and friends are so grateful he has no more pain, and though they will always miss him, they will continue to cherish his memory with great love and laughter.
Rusty is survived by his adoring wife, Sharon; his loving children, Julie Jones, Russell Jones, and Jeffrey Jones; as well as his beloved grandsons, Jeffery Jones Jr., Jay Jones, and William Jones.
Please join us for a Memorial Celebration with military honors at 10:00am on Sunday, September 18th at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Gotha, Florida.
