Great guy great administrator great Ruby player great friend will be missed

Big Jim Millar was a larger than life figure who impacted many of us in a very positive and profound way. I can still visualize his presence on and off the rugby pitch. He was a unique and influential leader. He was a tremendous friend to so many people. He is missed and will be forever remembered!

I knew Jim back in the 80s when he was playing a lot of rugby in Orlando with some other friends of mine. My friends and I loved to watch them play. He was very kind to others and so many people cared so much for him. He was one of those guys that everyone just gravitated to. I didn't know of his passing until today, that's why I'm writing this. May he rest in God's peace in Heaven. My deepest condolences to his wife and family. From an old friend, Wanda Collins Chandler

I met Jim in August if ‘87 when I landed in Orlando. He welcomed me to the club. I had instant family, the alleys, Raul, mike, Nate, homie, and so many others along the way. Orlando rugby has been my family through thick and thin. Steve roper amongst them. Great players and great friends to this day. Jim you are missed.

I grew up in Salisbury and was friends with Jim and his family. What a fine family they were. There was always laughter and good times to be had with this crew. Jim was always there for me and gave freely of his time and resources. There was no better man that has ever walked this earth than my friend Jim Millar. May he Rest In Peace and peace and comfort to Barb and her family. I know that Jim and his best friend Van will be waiting to greet me when I cross over to eternity.

Jim was a great man who had a passion for anything he did. I will miss our conversations at TCA or ATA, and talking life during random phone calls. My sincere condolences to the entire family, but we know Jim is up there doing the good work.

Best,
Tom Skuggen & Jim Great American friends

I met Jim for the first time in Dubuque, IA as we joined Cottingham & Butler around the same time. We opened an office in Orlando together and he immediately became a mentor to me. Jim was generous with his time and taught me so much about transportation. He was such a positive influence for so many, myself included. I’ll never forget the time that he and Barb came to our holiday party - he brought a bottle of Bookers bourbon and when he left he pulled me aside to thank me for the invite and with a big smile he said “I’m taking this with me, you kids won’t appreciate it” (and he was right to do so). Our thoughts are with Barb and Jim’s family and friends. Rest in peace, my friend.

Our xincere condolences to the millar family.. We are out of town abd are unable to attend the funeral today. However our spirit is with you.Jim was a great friend and a great man who lived with strong principles and convictions.God Bless.Jim and Marcie Flanagan

I met Jim at PCCA when our sons began playing basketball together in elementary school. Our friendship grew over the years and he was always someone that I admired for being a man of integrity, generosity, and conviction. Jim has been one of my ORANGE COUNTY FCA Board Members for the past 6 years and his organization, PAPA, has been the title sponsor of our FCA BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM CAMP that has seen countless young men surrender their lives to Jesus.

Jim wasn’t my real grandfather but he felt as if he were more than my actual ones. He helped me so much in life when I was first becoming a teenager back then and wrapping my head around highschool. He did everything he could to give me opportunities for sports and all other kinds of stuff. He got me into working out and lifting which I still do to this day becoming the best version of myself I can be all because he took the time to teach me how to lift by picking me up and driving me to his garage to workout. I had amazing times with this man he truly was someone special and I’d do anything to be with him again. We always talked on and on about sports and gave me life lessons I still use and keep to this day, if it wasn’t for him I don’t know where I’d be right now in life but I just know I wouldn’t be anywhere close to who I am today because of him. He would to anything in his power to see his family and friends succeed/be happy. I thank him so much for everything he did for me, I love and miss him more than anything and I’ll make sure to make him proud every single day.

A true gentleman. We are so sorry to hear of his passing.

Brother Jim,
Thank you for military service to our nation and your inspiration to to the Orlando Rugby Football Club family. Your leadership inspired me to pursue my rugby career at Life Chiropractic Rugby Club. You were a great mate and a damn good friend. Love you Brother.

Jim - we will miss you so much. You were a one of kind member of our team. Your heart, passion, and engagement with life was amazing. I will never forget your kindness in reaching out to my son when he was struggling to heal from a major concussion. What you sent him hangs proudly over his bed to this day. May you rest in peace my friend - heaven will never be the same!

Jim a man of FAITH, CHARACTER & who cared about others more than himself. Family, may the Peace of our Heavenly Father cover you♥ Rest in Peace Jim♥

I met the “Big Galloot” at my first rugby practice in the fall of 1980. Only a few of us can even conceive and imagine of the varied memories of having Jim as a friend in those days and beyond. What impressed me were his leadership skills that came naturally from him. They were only surpassed by his friendship and compassion. I loved the guy. Goodbye Jim.

So sad that Jim has passed . We love you Barb . I have great memories of Jim on and off the rugby pitch. I met Jim in 1977 when he joined our rugby team and he became our leader who kept our team going thru all these years. I salute you my fellow veteran and cherish the memories that we had . Somewhere, someplace, we will meet again we will put on our boots and tape our heads we will run on the pitch challenge our rival and win the scrums we will score a try and cheer on our mates we will have a victory So we salute you Big Jim you are our mate, our brother your memory lives forever in our hearts. So cheers to you Big Jim until we meet again. Love your scrum half P T 109 .

So sorry to hear this. Great guy. Sincerest sympathies to all.

Jim, in 1987 you approached me at the gym and said hey Kid have you ever played rugby. I said no and you said well come out to practice so I did. That day forever changed my life. I owe my wife my kids and so many awesome memories to you. I love you and you’ll be missed big guy. Thank you until we meet again at the big pitch in the sky

Jimmy and I are cousins, more like brothers, who grew up very close to each other. He and I butted heads playing back yard football, baseball and basketball at our grand parents home and at each others homes as well. I can only hope that I had as much influence on his drive and toughness as he did on mine!
        Rest in Peace Jimmy

Big Jim Millar was and will continue to be one of my fondest Florida Rugby Memories. Battling the line out against Big Jim was always the most wonderful dual. Jim set the standard for how to execute the line out and how to play the game right. For a young player like me, Jim always took me to school, and I was always a better player for it. Jim was as tough and savvy as they come and hard as the day is long. Jim will always be the consummate player and personified what we consider a "Gentleman of the Sport of Rugby". Gods speed to Jim as he gets heaven squared away. Cheers Mate. Chuck May

My sincere condolences to Mr. Jim Millar‘s family. I knew Jim through work for over twenty years. From knowing him throughout the years, we could see what a caring family man he was. He was generous, reliable, a gentleman & friend to many, and a most talented insurance guru. He will be sincerely missed for the great human being that he was.. Pamela Ocana.

There is a saying in Rugby when you are on the field in play,.."With You!" With you means I am here for you. You are telling your teammate, whatever you decide to do, know that I am here to support you. With You is Jim Millar. He was always there in support for people whether it was on the pitch or more importantly the pitch of life.

I was lucky enough to consider him my friend for the past 32 years and I'm proud I can say that. Jim was a God loving man, a true patriot and served well. Love you brother.

Dear Millar Family and Friends,

Jim was our liaison from Cottingham & Butler. He was a wonderful person to work with and a great host whenever we joined him to break bread together at dinner. I always admired his honestly, enthusiasm and superior focus on R+L's best interests for our insurance needs. He served our country in the Armed Forces with distinction, and he carried out that demeanor as a representative of C&B. Regardless of what the need was, you definitely were in good hands with Jim Millar.

Jim will be sadly missed by all of us. May he repose with the Good Lord!

Gerald Krisa, Vice-President of Safety. R+L Carriers Inc.

So sad to hear of Jim's passing. He will be remembered by our family for his wide smile, great story telling and his generosity and caring of others. I will cherish my fond memories of Jim and our times spent together. our condolences to Barb and th rest of your family, Jim will be greatly missed.

I worked with Jim for the past 15 years at Cottingham & Butler. Recently, over the past few years, Jim and I worked on a few accounts together. Jim was very encouraging to me as I worked on larger accounts and guided me through the experience. Jim was very patient, willing to devote his time and also always provided some stories and humor in the process. I enjoyed this time with Jim and appreciate his willingness to help a younger colleague.

In addition, Jim and I shared a love for basketball and would talk about experiences we had had with the game.

Rest in peace Jim.

Jim was a class act as a competitor on and off the rugby pitch. He was a first-class representative of the Orlando Rugby Club and the Florida Rugby Union. Most of mh career, I was an opponent of Jim's and on a handful of occasions, I was his teammate. It was an honor to be playing rugby on the same field as Jim. The world lost a great American citizen. RIP, Jim.....to be forever remembered.

Hard to imagine Jim is not calling me or going to play golf. I first met Jim at church and asked him to play some basketball with the men. He showed up and the rest was history. For the 25 years we bonded as friends and followers of Jesus.

Jim has meant so much to me and my family. Then Barb came into the picture. What a blessed couple.

Jim was such a faithful friend and very generous to me and others.

I rejoice that he is with Jesus but I grieve in my love for this giant of a man. He gave his all to people and to Jesus.

Jim, you are just five minutes ahead of us. We will see you soon. You can give me some more golf lessons. Even in heaven I will need all the help I can get.

Thanks for always being there for me and my family and ministry.

Jim is my best friend. His loss really hurts more than you can imagine.
Our time together spans more than 34 years. Jim’s a man who always was there for you. A loving, trusting man who would do anything for you in a time of need. There are countless occasions when Jim brought sunshine in my life.
I will never forget when he grabbed my phone to talk to my wife Judi when we were just dating. He wanted assurances all would be okay.
I will miss you my friend and pray we will see each other someday. Thank you for always being there for me and Judi!

As the oldest active producers at Cottingham & Butler, Jim and I were comrades in arms. Jim was a great guy and always ready to help. I especially admired him because he was not hesitant to talk about his faith in Christ.

He will be sorely missed by friends, colleagues, and clients.
