Joan Holland was born in Sask, Canada in 1919 and came to Orlando in 1923.
She lived the rest of her life in Orlando except for the 4 years of WWII when she joined her beloved husband “Dick” in California where he was based in the U.S. Air Corps. When they came home after the war, Dick started his own construction business, “Dick Holland, Inc.” Joan was Secretary-Treasurer of the firm and worked with Dick until they retired in 1984.
She was a member of the President’s Council of the University of Florida, U of F Alumni Assoc., Citrus Club, Country Club of Orlando, Linville Land Harbor Golf Club, Orlando Museum of Art, the Artists’ League of Orange County and Rosalind Club.
Joan was Episcopalian, a member of St. Luke’s Cathedral and is survived by her son, Pete Holland, his wife Kathy and grandson Matthew Holland.
Memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 11am at Woodlawn Funeral Home officiated by Fr. Jim Sorvillo.
