John Lawrence (Jack) Connolly, 85, of Windermere, Florida, passed away at his family home on September 30 after courageously battling cancer. Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, on April 12, 1940, John was the son of Edward Connolly and Anna Conlon.
He grew up in Dunellen, NJ and moved to Norwood, MA for work where he met his wife, Ann Picard. The young couple lived in Norfolk, MA where they had three children, John, Mark and Audrey. In 1971, seeking a warmer climate, John moved the family to Winter Park, FL, and later built a home in Windermere, FL in 1980 where he spent the rest of his life. Professionally, after working for Proudfoot Consulting, John founded and served as President of the management consulting company Implematx, which partnered with Fortune 500 companies across America and Canada.
John was proud of his involvement in the Sea Scouts growing up. His passion was keeping Lake Down and the Butler Chain of Lakes clean. He held leadership roles in local civic and environmental organizations, including serving as past President of the Butler Chain Conservation Association and as past Chairman of the Windermere Water and Navigation Control Board.
John is survived by his wife, Ann Picard Connolly of Windermere; his sister, Kathleen McCann of Dunellen, NJ; his children, John E. Connolly of Sanford, FL, Mark Connolly and his wife Jill of Tampa, FL, and Audrey Roberts and her husband Dave of Charlotte, NC; and his grandchildren, Scott Connolly and his wife Amanda, Abigail Connolly, and Luke Roberts.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no formal public service. The family suggests that those who wish to honor his memory consider a contribution to an environmental cause.
