He was born on December 12, 1942, in Decatur, GA. John was a graduate of Georgia Tech, where he earned both a bachelor and masters degree in physics. He received his Doctorate in Physics from the University of Virginia. John’s career included working with several government defense programs where his knowledge and intellect contributed greatly to the many projects in which he was involved. The last twenty years of his career was with Lockheed Martin where his primary focus was working with the Electrical Optical Targeting System (EOTS) for the F35 Aircraft.
In his retirement John’s focus was serving Holy Family Catholic Church through their prison ministry, hospital ministry, Adoration Chapel, as well as being a Eucharistic minister.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John Wylie Morris and Anne Dale Morris, his son, Quenton Morris, and son-in-law, Benjamin Maynard. He is survived by his wife, Elaine, and their three daughters, Kelley Wall (David), Dale Lankford (Donald), Jessica Maynard, and nine grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Joe Morris.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Woodlawn Funeral Home in Gotha, Florida. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Friday January 25, 2019 at 11 am.
